What is the RDN YOUth Program all about?

The RDN YOUth program is a community-based solution to the needs of our local youth, offering programs, opportunities and avenues for dialogue in and around our Oceanside area. We strive for positive change, and we believe in:

  • Hearing and respecting youth voice.
  • Supporting and encouraging youth participation in recreation.
  • Responding to the changing interests of youth and community.
  • Encouraging ongoing community conversation focusing on youth recreation.
  • Reducing barriers to participation: cost, transportation and accessibility.
  • Respecting a wide variety of youth interests.
  • Fostering experiences for physical and social wellbeing.
  • Helping youth develop adaptive and positive behaviours that will enable them to meet the demands and challenges of everyday life.
  • Promoting leadership development across the youth network.
  • Working together increases opportunities for youth recreation.
  • Striving for excellence in youth recreation.

This popular youth leadership program will develop your skills in group leadership, child management, and community engagement.

Are you a youth between the ages of 11-18? Would you like to see your art displayed in a public space as well as on this website? This project provides youth artisits with the opportunty to display digital copies of original works of art in our first virtual exhibition. Images of your artwork could be displayed at Oceanside Place Arena, and/or at Ravensong Aquatic Centre and our online artists' gallery.

Zentangle Circles

Zentangle Circles

Looking for something fun to do this fall?  How about a Zentangle® Circle?  Zentangle Circle is a 6 week course designed to get you started in Zentangle – and keep going!

Zentangle Circles are simple, two hour sessions that will provide you the basic philosophy of Zentangle, and the simple skills you need to practise Zentangle any time you like.  Even if you can’t draw a straight line, you can create beautiful patterns.  And best of all, it’s relaxing and fun.

There are three Zentangle Circles to choose from:

  • Wednesday after school (4-6) for kids 7-12 starting October 19
  • Thursday after school (4-6) for ages 13 and up starting October 20
  • Friday afternoon (1-3) for youth and adults starting November 4

Cost:  $85 ($75 for returning students)

Drop-ins: $15 provided you have already taken a Zentangle Basics class

Classes taught at the McMillan Arts Centre by Rhonda Roy, CZT.  Avoid disappointment and sign up early!
